Daniel Antoni found kendo through a Studio Ghibli film, then moved to Japan to train for three years.
Asked whether kendo is his ikigai, he turns the word down. And then he describes exactly that: the thing that made who he is at forty, and the debt he is still repaying.
It began with Princess Mononoke. It continued in Japan, for kendo. And it settled on one word he was reluctant to use.
