Guest Reviews

Above all, the lightness and warmth of the futon were superb — we slept so deeply. Loved the Enshu-cotton hanten and slippers too.

A quaint, old-fashioned house with comfortable futons. We enjoyed cycling around and a kimono experience nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. With self check-in, a late arrival after 3:00 PM is no problem at all.

We use self check-in with no in-person procedure. After booking, you will receive access to a guest portal with everything you need for your stay: key pickup, Wi-Fi, parking, and directions.

Depending on the day's cleaning schedule and the next day's bookings, this may be possible — please ask us in advance. Dropping off your luggage before check-in can also often be arranged.

Free parking is available in front of the house. Your assigned space number is provided after booking. If you are coming with two or more cars, please contact us in advance.

Yes, the momen building has a bathtub (the neighboring anco building has a shower only).

Not inside the house, but a coin laundry is about a 1-minute walk away. The machines dispense detergent automatically, so you do not need your own.

The 2nd-floor bedroom is furnished with natural-cotton futon mattresses crafted by futon artisan Koichiro Shingai. We intentionally leave off the fitted sheet so that you can feel the texture of the cotton itself.

Babies are very welcome. We do not have cribs, but we lay out futons directly on the tatami floor, so there is no risk of your baby rolling off a bed (you may also bring a travel cot). Infants co-sleeping with you stay free of charge.

Because we preserve part of the original folk-house interior, some aspects differ from modern housing, such as steep stairs, uneven steps, and cold in winter. The water areas — toilet, bath, washroom, and kitchen — are newly built, and air conditioning is provided on each floor.

It is a card given to our guests. Present it at long-established confectionery shops and stores in Okitsu to receive a small complimentary treat. Enjoy strolling the old Tokaido town with the card in hand.

We recommend a café run by a tea shop for lunch and an izakaya run by a local fisherman for dinner. During your stay, we are happy to suggest more places to match your taste.

Smoking is prohibited throughout the building and premises. The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood, so we also ask you to keep noise down at night.
