Guest Reviews

A wonderful home where you feel the care for art in every detail, from the furniture to the kitchenware. A historic house, yet the water areas are newly renovated and very comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. With self check-in, a late arrival after 3:00 PM is no problem at all.

We use self check-in with no in-person procedure. After booking, you will receive access to a guest portal with everything you need for your stay: key pickup, Wi-Fi, parking, and directions.

Yes, as paid options: early check-in from 12:00 PM and late check-out until 2:00 PM. Please let us know by the day before your arrival. As we do not offer luggage storage before or after your stay, these options are the best alternative.

One free parking space is available in front of the neighboring house, next to the entrance. If you are coming with two or more cars or several motorcycles, please contact us in advance.

JR Kambara Station is about a 5-minute walk away.

The house has a shower room only. If you would like to soak in a bath, we recommend the nearby bath houses Suruga Kenko Land and Yuragi no Sato, or the enzyme bath Kambara Ion House.

Futons are prepared in the 2nd-floor tatami room. On request, we can also set up futons in the 1st-floor tatami room so your group can sleep separately (the 1st floor faces the road, so some car noise may be heard).

Babies are very welcome. We do not have cribs, but we lay out futons directly on the tatami floor, so there is no risk of your baby rolling off a bed (you may also bring a travel cot). Infants co-sleeping with you stay free of charge.

Free bicycles are available for guests. If you need more, electric share-cycles are available in front of Kambara Station.

Within walking distance or a few minutes by car you will find Kambarakan (a classic diner near the station), Miyoshi Shokudo (home-style cooking), and sakura-shrimp and seafood restaurants toward Yui. For groceries there is the Shokusenkan Taiyo supermarket, and Miyahara Shoten is our pick for sakura shrimp souvenirs.

Because we preserve part of the original townhouse interior, some aspects differ from modern housing, such as steep stairs, uneven steps, and cold in winter. The water areas — toilet, shower, washroom, and kitchen — are newly built, and air conditioning is provided on each floor.

Smoking is prohibited throughout the building and premises. The house is in a quiet residential neighborhood, so we also ask you to keep noise down at night.
